At first, i was quite nervous and scared when we were told to visit the Delta Senior School as I thought the students would be like a bunch of rowdy and noisy students like what i see on the public transport every day. However, upon reaching there, i was forced to eat my own words as they totally changed my perspective of autistic students. It was definitely an eye-opener experience then.
Immediately, we separate ourselves into three groups: football, basketball and floorball. It was an enjoyable experience as i played football with the kids there who were much more competitive than i thought. Their determination and competitiveness were clearly shown when they even had a P.E.teacher who stood by the side guiding them during the game while their teammates encouraged them! Their desire is something we can definitely learn from them.
After this experience, i definitely feel that i can contribute to the community in the future by participating in such events which involve having fun with them. Lastly,i also do believe that all of us who made our way there, had a fruitful journey as we definitely learnt something from them. :)
