3C Mohamed Faris (13)

For service learning this year, my class decided to work with Delta Senior School. The plan was to go to the school and play sports with them, namely football(in picture above), floorball and basketball. I was really excited to play with the students there, and it was genuinely an enjoyable trip. The students played a whole lot better than I would have imagined, and it left me in awe. I really feel that the students in such schools should not be mocked or discriminated. They indeed have something truly special about them and also are a part of our community.

What stood out for me was the way they communicated with each other. They did not argue. During my football match with them, all the players from Delta Senior School took instructions from their coach and captain and did not argue. Their cooperation showed on the pitch as well. This made me realise how petty my friends and I can sometimes be and how we should really change this side of us.

I would surely stay involved with community service, as I have a soft spot for helping those in need, even if it's just a greeting and small talk. It was really fun and I hope we do it again someday.
